Privacy

This policy covers this website, wrenfield.brightkidzhub.com, and the free story you can play on it. It is written for parents, guardians and teachers, because the story on this site is meant to be played by children.
The Wrenfield app is not released yet. When it is, it will carry its own privacy policy, inside the app and in its store listings, describing what the app does.
The short version
This website collects nothing about you or your child. There is no account, no sign-up, no mailing list, no form, no comments and no chat. There is no analytics, no advertising, no tracking and no social-media button. Nothing on it is loaded from any other company: the pictures, the fonts, the story and its narration all come from this site. It sets no cookies.
The free story remembers where your child got to, inside your own browser, and never sends it anywhere. That is described below, with how to clear it.
What the website itself does
The pages are ordinary static web pages. The only script on them, outside the story, is a few lines on the Play page that open the story in a frame on a wide screen instead of a new page. It sends nothing and stores nothing.
We therefore hold no information about you from visiting this site, and there is none for you to ask us to see, correct or delete.
The free story
The story is the same program that runs inside the Wrenfield app, playing one story. It runs entirely in your browser. It cannot send anything anywhere: the page tells the browser it may not make network requests to report anything, and the story has no code that tries to.
To remember where your child got to, the story keeps one small record in your browser's local storage, under the name wrenfield/title-a/progress. It holds:
- how many times each story has been finished;
- if a story is part-way through, which screen it is on and the answers already given on the screens before it, so it can pick up where it stopped. This part is deleted as soon as the story ends;
- the grown-ups' setting for words, voice, or both.
It holds no name, age, email, location, date or time, device identifier, or anything a child types, because a child types nothing. It stays on the device and in the browser where the story was played. We never see it, and it is not a cookie.
To clear it, delete this site's data in your browser's settings (usually under privacy, "site data" or "cookies and site data" for wrenfield.brightkidzhub.com). A private or incognito window keeps nothing after it is closed.
Our host
This site is served by Google Firebase Hosting. Like every web host, it records the requests your browser makes, which include your IP address and browser type, in server logs used to run and protect the service. We do not read those logs for anything about individuals and we do not connect them to anything else. Google's own handling of that data is described in its privacy policy at policies.google.com/privacy.
Children
This site is intended for use by children with a parent, guardian or teacher, and by the adults deciding whether Wrenfield is for them.
We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children under 13, and the site is built so that it cannot: there is nowhere on it to enter information, and the story sends nothing. We do not show advertising, we do not profile anybody, and no child is ever asked for their name.
The rules that protect children's information, including the United States Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA), the UK's Age Appropriate Design Code, and the protections for children in the EU and UK data-protection law, all start from the information a service collects. This site collects none, so there is nothing for us to ask your consent for, to share, to sell, or to keep. The host's own server logs, described above, are the one exception to "none", and we do not use them to identify anyone.
If you believe we hold information about your child and want it removed, write to the address below. We will look, tell you what we found, and delete it.

Changes
If this policy changes, the effective date at the top changes with it, and the previous version stays available on request. We will not change it quietly.
